I have my mom, brothers, relatives, and my girlfriend living in a city named Chula Vista and its part of San Diego. I grew up there and I was wondering If i get stationed in Camp Pendleton, will it be easier for me too visit my familiy and gf, how often will i get too see them, or are they allowed to visit me? ooo and also, do Marines have permission to leave the base? please this is one question that needs to be answered....thanks

I know Chula Vista i used to live off hilltop and orange, ive also been stationed on Pendleton.

You can go and see your family on the weekends if you want.

Pendleton is in North County it's not like it's hours and hours away.

They can visit you too, and yes you can leave the base you are not a prisoner.

A friend's daughter went to boot camp and she couldn't even talk to her family on the phone, much less leave the base! Even after she was diagnosed with a medical condition (which eventually led to her discharge), she was not allowed to talk with her family. My impression was that the weaning young soldiers from family ties is an integral part of military service.

During boot? Hell no. MCT, you'll have time on some weekends, they'll probably have to come up to you though as you won't be able to have a car. After your MOS school if you're stationed there, you can do whatever you want. of course they have permission to leave base, they're people, not prisoners (except at times while you're training, but that's another thing entirely)
