I am 21 years old ttc baby #1. I have pcos (polycystic ovary syndrome) and I do not have periods, but I do ovulate every other month or so. I was tracking my ovulation but I'm not any more because my husband and I pretty much have sex every other day or every day so I know I've got it covered. I usually ovulate between the 18th and 25th anyways, but on a few occasions I ovulated at the start of the month. That's the problem I don't know when to test cause I don't have periods. Most girls wait til their period was due. But every time I take a test it's negative and it crushes me. It just makes me more depressed. I test twice a month, at the 1st and 30th. But I don't want to do it anymore because I just sob all day when I take it. At the same time when I do get pregnant I want to seek immediate prenatal care, and I'm afraid if I don't test really regularly because I have no periods and I'm on the heavier side I could end up not finding out til I'm 8 to 12 weeks pregnant. When I had my first miscarriage I was already 8 weeks along and had just found out. So how often should I test to be on the safe side, but not torture myself over the constant negatives?
To the first answerer that is not true. You do not need to have a period to release an egg. I know this since I have not had one in 5 YEARS but have gotten pregnant 3 times in 1 year.
