How often should adults get flu shots?

I haven't had a flu shot in YEARS - since I was a kid. Is it necessary for adults to get flu shots? If so, how often? If not, why not? I'm a pretty healthy adult and don't get sick easily and don't have any allergies. Just curious though as to if it's as important for adults to receive the shot..

Hand2Hand: I think the medical thinking now is for everybody to get a flu shot.

If you ever have a bad case of the flu you will realize the shot is cheap insurance.

Luck.

That flu shot doesn't protect you from the GI problems though, the vomiting and such. Influenza A and B have no effect on the gut, only the respiratory tract and it's important for the elderly to get the vaccine because it can cause some nasti pneumonias. I agree with AuntiLeela.

Ok thanks for the info and link! Yea, I'm pretty healthy, rarely ever get sick, and I'm not surrounded by a lot of people at my job, and under 50, etc., so I think I'm ok for now. Thanks again!
