Can't count how many times I've been to the cinema, comfortably in four figures. First time was Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs at the former Odeon in Newcastle upon Tyne just before it was converted to triple screens (1975).
Been 30 times this year, I go to Boldon Cineworld and have an Unlimited Card.
I'd say I used to go about 4 to 6 times a year. Nowadays I only probably once or twice a year. Last year I didn't go once! I think one of the main reasons I don't go so much is because of DVRAB and having a PVR nowadays. You have so much choice. Plus I think at the moment TV(especially US TV in the form of the 12 episode serial) is a lot more innovative at the moment, compared to the cinema.
Cinema prices are bit high now, and I accept that the price of food is a bit too high as well. What is bad nowadays is how children behave in cinemas! Running up and down the cinema making so much noise. A couple of years ago that wouldn't have happened!!!
I have an unlimited card too, so tend to go about twice a week. I've seen 25 films so far this year, 16 just in March and April so far. I do tend to watch anything that I can get someone to come with me to see! I've seen a few good films that I never would have paid to see so it works well for me (also seen some truly awful ones that I'm so glad I didn't pay for).
Hardly ever, last time I went was in early 2008 to see St Trinians. Cinema tickets are really expensive (unless I can get a student discount - don't know if I can) and it's more comfortable and peaceful watching them on DVD at home.
I have a Cineworld Unlimited card and so I go at least once or twice a month (each visit I end up watching 3 - 4 films (works out cheaper on the snacks ))
The card makes the whole experience cheaper and I enjoy going to the cinema for the cinema experience (especially when I get a whole screen for myself, which is wonderful) so I try to go a lot now.
I never used to like to go if I had no one to go with, but now I tend not to care if I go on my own - in fact sometimes it is better since they don't talk during the film
LMAO! 2 years ago?? Are you serious? KiRAB has and always will run amock in cinemas. not their fault if there are grown adults watching films that are pretty much aimed at them to begin with. increasing cinema prices is nothing new.
please people put things in there proper perspective.
I used to go loaRAB - well working at cinemas you go for free
But since I left in February I've been twice. I would probably say I go on average 3-5 times a year. I only go and watch films I really want to see, or what my frienRAB really want to see (barring Sex and the City, no way I was seeing that!).
I saw Get Him to the Greek last Wednesday and I'm going to see Shrek Forever After this Wednesday. Summer or Winter times are the best for cinema. Spring/Autumn not so much.
I don't have an issue with the prices and enjoy the experience as long as there are no parents in letting their progeny run around uncontrolled - or idiots who must have a conversation during the film (luckily both rare.
There are times when a line of good films will come out, the likes of Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll, and A Prophet recently and I will go. Then they will be swamped by the usual Hollywood pap for a few weeks and I won't go.
