How much would it be to rent a used car in VA?

I'm planning on visiting Virginia in my gap year for about 2 weeks. I'll probably need to rent a car but it looks expensive. Is renting a used car a good idea and how much would it be? I'll have a UK licence but am willing to get a VA one. Biggest problem is I'll be 18. Thanks!
