As the victim of a car accident that dislocated my shoulder joint, and gave a major concussion, I was unable to participate in my usual running/workout routine for several months.
I ended up dropping 20 pounds, and just completely dropping out of shape.
I am just now starting to get back into shape in hopes of playing football next fall (trying out for the team this February) and I noticed that my 40 yard dash time was an appalling 6.0 (I used to run a 4.7, about a year ago)
And basically I'm wondering how much being out of shape should affect my running speed, and if I should be able to get back up to par in about 4 weeks of carbo/protein loading, and intense football workouts, or - how much improvement I should be able to see.
I guess I should add that I'm currently 5'11, 165LBS, and was running my 4.7 at 5'11 188lbs
I will be trying to get to my target of 185 soon, while regaining my speed, if not improving it (which I would prefer, honestly
