how much will a mechanic charge to replace a throw out bearing on a honda civic manual..

...shift? a mechanic told me it would cost from $325 to $350 to replace a throw out bearing on a 1997 honda civic 5 speed. The bearing only cost $15.He said it would be an all day job.Another mechanic said wait till it goes all the way out before I get it fixed nut I would hate to get stranded and have to pay to get it towed.
Is this mechanic charging me too much? Is this an all day job?
 
Yes it is an all day job. As long as it is apart you may as well put a clutch & a pressure plate in & also resurface the flywheel. Throw out bearings generally go bad because you are riding the clutch! Get your left foot on the floor not resting on the clutch.
