I know there are many questions like this that have been answered all across the internet, but I think mine is a bit different. Ive never been able to find the answer I'm looking for.
Right now my specs are:
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
894mb RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS PCI
24" HD DVI monitor(1920 x 1200) <- Makes me take a performance hit
Lets take World of Warcraft for example. My average FPS for that game is about 15-20fps. And that is at LOW quality, running around in the game with all the effects and such, but when I look into a wall, or am in a closed room, or do a birds eye view of my character, my fps jumps to around 60-75fps, which is a huge jump. This is telling me that my computer is capable at running at those speeds, but something is holding it back when there is more to load.
This is the same with other games that I play, such as Guild Wars. When I log onto GW, I can run around pretty much anywhere with a constant 5-9fps. Which is unplayable. I cannot stand that low of a frame rate, but when I pan the camera up, looking straight down at my character, when all it has to load is my character, and the ground, I jump to about 30+ fps.
So my question is, will adding 2gb of ram to my system allow me to play at higher frame rates? So computer will be able to handle all of these surroundings and not just the floor? It seems plausible in my head, but id like some more opinions.
Thank you
