I am driving from NM to SC in about a month and plan on pulling a 4x8 uhaul trailer on a aftermarket tow hitch. I need to know what rating tow hitch to get I don't see a point in buying a 6000 lb. weight capacity tow hitch if my truck can only pull 3000 lbs. I will probally just have cloths and small things in the trailer nothing much. if anyone knows what the rating is or knows a web sight that has the specs for the 2.3 ltr. I would appreciate any help thanks.

That little workhorse can pull just about anything mounted on wheels...
The brakes have to be your major consideration... It may be able to pull it, but can it stop it.. A lot depends on the terrain also, flatlands or mountainous.. a totally different picture. I wouldn't go with anything over 1500 lbs and a tongue weight under 400lbs.
Good luck, mate

Small 2wd trucks like that are usually limited to 5K. You'll need at best a class 3 hitch. Read the owners manual & see if the hole in the bumper qualifies as a class 3 rating. Then you may not need to buy a hitch & just get a 4 pin wiring harness. It's not the engine that limits the trucks towing capacity, but the suspension.
