You should always start off slow.
Like ride for 15 minutes, then a week later ride for 20, then 25 Ect...
If you want to lose Pounds try cutting out ALL carbs, and exercise everyday that should do it.
You could have a treat every now and agin, but make sure you keep up the exercise.
