When you registar a vehicle in texas you will pay the amount to register (varies by county) about $65 plus sales tax 6.25% on the price you paid for the vehicle. If the vehicle was a gift you will have to pay sales tax on the fair market price of the vehicle - kelly blue book is about 2500 tax of $150. You should expect it to cost about $215 all together.
