it has a 4 cylinder 2.4L engine. with this recession im trying to save every penny i can and get value for what i do buy if that makes sense i was curious to know if i would be making a good decision to go with the cheaper route. i priced a brand new starter for around $120.

i look one up at auto zone.com 119.00 cant get much cheaper unless you find a old man who rebuilds them at a small shop and not many of them guys left could try a auto salvage not likely you will find one look you could look cant say if it would be any better or last longer id just buy a new one

Hey DJ!
that new starter only comes with a 12k/12mo. warranty.
If you get a reputable rebuilt you can get 36k/36mo warranty.
It's all about the warranty if your starter can go 36K without a hitch
it'll likely go a lifetime.
Usually, either method will cost the same.
make sure you reference the instructions on starter engagement
for an explanation on Shims/shimming your starter.
Go Rebuilt
