How much SHOULD it cost to fix the waterpump on my 1999 Buick Century?

I've been noticing that water spits all over place after the car heats up a bit. The water is coming from near what I believe is called the Serpentine belt. I'm wondering if the water has done something to one of the pulleys (round little metal thingies) because I can hear a strange metal on metal squeaking. I was told it could be a hose leading to the waterpump but I'm not really sure how I'd be able to tell. And as a woman, I certainly don't want to have to deal with a mechanic trying to overcharge me.

I've stopped driving the car as I'm afraid it will overheat and cause me even MORE problems.
 
The water pump is around $88 at GM dealer. You can have a fried install it, or pay someone else to do it. Altogether, about $150-200. You will have to change your coolant now, as well!
 
Call around and get a few quotes. The noise you hear is the bearings in your water pump going bad from the leak at the weep hole on your water pump. Your pulleys are ok, don't worry. Probably run you about $300 including parts and fluids, etc. Any more, get another quote. Some mechanics will do jobs a little cheaper than the books say to just to get more business.
 
to tell where the problem is coming from fill it up with water(the radiator) start the car and watch where the fluid is coming from. ask a person you trust that knows about cars for some help. maybe a father, brother or even a neighbor. or can get a manual on the car. if you don't know how to fix it you may have to take it to the auto shop anyway.
