how much should i sell my bike for?

i have a green and black mongoose that cost me about 100 bucks and i wanna sell it to get a new one....i took off all the wires and brakes off of it and its a little old and a little bit rusty...how much do u think i should sell it for,$60 maybe?
 
Typically a rule I heard somewhere, for a well used item (but still working condition), the resale value would be about 40% of its original price.

But since you took off all the cables and brakes, you would have a hard time selling it at close to $40... Think from the buyer's perspective that he has to buy cables, and brakes to get it to working condition again. I haven't found any slightly rusty bikes that still needs work on craigslist, but I would not put up a higher price than $20.
