How much should I pay for new brakes and rotor re-surfacing at dealer for my

Toyota Corolla? I needed new front and rear brakes for my 2005 Toyota Corolla. I was able to negotiate $190 for front and $190 for rear that includes new pads and resurfacing of the rotors. Is this a fair price at a Toyota Dealer? One place was going to charge $120, but it didn't include resurfacing.

Also, I'm getting conflicting information on resurfacing rotors. I was told by one dealer I do not need my rotors resurfaced with new pads and this dealer said they always resurface the rotors when installing new pads so they "fit" together better. I know the last time I had my brakes done, they re-surfaced the rotors.

Should you resurface when you have new pads installed?
By the way, I live in Los Angeles.

why take to a dealer as they are the most expensive. Try to use a AAA rated shop with ASE certified mechanics.Call for free quotes and guarantee. Resurfacing a rotor is not always necessary but is a good idea to check for straightness and or smoothness. Any irregularities need to be corrected if rotor is not too thin, If too thin it need to be replaced.

Many cars these days have brakes that are engineered so that the pads and disks wear out, together. They make the disks thinner to save weight. Toyota makes a brake kit that includes the pads, return springs, and slide pins. Rotors are extra. You can buy all new parts and install them yourself. I would try to replace just the pads without the resurfacing, if you catch it early enough. Good luck!!
