How much should I pay for brakes on my car?

I have a Volvo s40, 75000 miles 2006. A local gas station wants to charge me 725 for front and rear brakes and resurfacing of the rotors. I live in ny and
this includes tax. Is this alot for for a small place that is not Volvo dealer? If so, how much should I be paying?
