I am a 19 year old girl. This is my first car. I plan on getting my license in a few weeks. The car has already been smog ed and the car fax checks out. My dad indicated he likes the way the car operates but suggested I have it check out by a professional mechanic to be safe since he doesn't know that much. I am not sure what to do? Maybe I should have it checked out or maybe I should buy it. The guy also wants $2,500 but won't go down. Maybe I should get a Ford Mustang? All the similar cars (Civics/Integras) I have looked at have issues of one sort or another.
I live in California,Ventura where prices for these kind of auto a more than the national average.
My dad tell me I should buy his friends 1997 Camry for $2,500 because his friend has a honest reputation. My dad has done business with him before. I am sure the car is reliable but it is a 4 door and looks like a family car. I am young and cute and figure a V Tech won't hurt my image.
I want the car so bad but I don't want to make a mistake and really don't want to be caught dead in a boring Camry. I live only once. So what if I make a mistake Right? I can always buy another car right?
The guy I am purchasing the car from has had it only for 3 months. He claims he wants to get a V-Tech with a clutch. The owner previous to him had the car only for a year. I guess everyone likes to move up.
I don't have a lot of money but I have $5,000 mostly from student loans and financial aid. My dad tells me to worry about reliable transportation to school but I want both. I have a part time job but I don't make much money but hopefully I will get more hours.
Please help me. I need advise from people of my own generation. You older people seem to forget you were young once and made mistakes. So what if I make a mistake. I can recover right? I can't look back. My dad tells me that is how shorted sighted losers think. He says I should have a vision for the future, but why should I ? Aren't young people supposed to make mistakes?
I know this might sound like I am retarded or something but my IQ is 125 and I have a GPA of 2.70 at junior collage. Ok sure I messed up in High School and had a 1.41 (seriously) GPA because I never went to school but I have matured and back in the day high school didn't mean anything anyways. I did lose a Cal grant for college because my parents didn't tell me if my grades were low I would miss out. Can you believe that? My dad know about but kept that information to him self.
So far 1 1/2 years 27 units I have only one fail so I am doing pretty good if my GPA is 2.70, right?
Thanks for reading.
