how much should i offer for a 94 toyota supra?

hey guys there is a toyota supra down my block that has been sitting for YEARS!! from the outside it seems to have a couple aftermarket parts such as rims, exhaust, tail lights, spoiler and a unfinished paint job. im assuming the engine is blown and it has other problems because like i said its been there well over 6 or 7 years without moving! i was thinking of just going up to his door and offering him some money even though its not for sale but i dont know how much money i should offer him? any ideas??
thats what i was thinking. maybe offering 2k and seeing what he says but like kyle g said it might be too much work to restore back!
 
well that car is well worth 20 grand with a good motor... so since the motor is blown the car can still go for 5 to 10 grand easily as long as the interiors good, all the bodys in good shape and it doesnt need break work or have any broken or missing parts. u could always throw an offer like 2k n see wat he says
 
if it has sat for 6-7 years it will need to be completely overhauled. I would go to him offer 500$ then if he says no offer 1000$. I would then part the car out it would be better to use the good parts then to try and bring it back. Unless you are really really good with cars and have no life.

PS cartman after 6-7 years the body will be rusted out the brakes will be dust the brake lines will be crap. The interior has most likely gotten wet due to the fact that all the weather stripping has dry rotted the engine will be siezed Theres just so much to do. try to buy it and the part it out. In this economy he may be willing to take whatever you offer.
 
I will advice u not to go over$500.and if the engine is blown, it don't even what it. I mean think of it, while will u want to spend 5k on 500 dollar, and u will still have to replace some other parts on the body and repaint the car.
 
$500 or $1000, sitting for 7 years or not, blown engine or not is some serious lowballing. Good condition 2JZ engines can be found for about 7 grand, including heads and turbos.

I wouldnt just offer him money in the blind. He'll probably scoff at you and then you lose your chance. Just knock on his door, ask about it (not like your going to buy it) and learn about it. Why its sat, is it a turbo model or n/a? how many miles is on it? is it auto or manual trans? Whats holding up the paint job? etc.
 
offer at least 2k, these cars are rare and they have a lot of potential, the guy will laugh at you if you offer 500 and will not accept other offers unless they're substantially higher
