How much should a lawyer cost?

lawyers are costly, but the dealing charge says pay the price. expect $125 an hour minimum just to talk and shuffle some papers. you could easily pay twice that. then, if litigation is necessary, that's $250 an hour minimum for court room time. again, you could pay as much as twice that.

Do you want to go to trial, or just to plead guilty?

Most lawyers around here start at about $1000.00 to help work out a plea, but if you want to go to trial it could start at about another $2,000. Assuming the charge is a misdemeanor. Felony cases are usually double what the attorney charges for a misdemeanor. These type of charges are likely felony charges. You could be facing prison time. Not a good time to be trying to cheap out. If you are not able to pay a good lawyer's fee you need to ask the court to appoint an attorney or the public defender. And, by pay, I mean pay the fee up front. Not make payments. If you try to make payments the lawyer will not want to work as hard on your case until you have paid the entire fee, so if you cannot pay up front ask for an appointed attorney.

Lawyers charge for their time, the less time it takes the less you have to pay.

$100. to $1,000.00 per hour.

Good Luck
