how much readyboost flash is needed to equal 1gb ram?

and i have 128mb ram system and i bought a sandisk 4gb ultraII and i noticed a system lag instead of performance but the memory card i bought is readybosst certified is this started lag but is this because i allocated all of the memory card instead of leaving a little bit of space and any reccomeds of how much flashmemory i need to see a BIG DIFFERNCE
and i'm on xp using a program called eboostr which works the same as vista ready boost feature

4GB is plenty to 'equal' that number. But the answer is NO amount of readyboost flash will equal any amount of true -onboard- RAM.

Flash memory is limited.

A) The clock speeds on a flash chips are much slower than that of a typical RAM stick.

B) The USB connection limits this even further even if the flash memory were of typical modern day RAM speeds.

Readyboost is meant as an adjunct -- part novelty, part usefulness. -- It will help a busy machine with memory allocation room.. but will not speed it up anymore than a few percent at best.. which is not humanly noticeable. Placebo has a great effect though.

Flash memory is so cheap I have them in any vista desktop I regularly use -- but don't bother with my laptops.

So bottom line, if you put 4GB of flash memory in, readyboost is on (which it should be by default) -- and noticed a decrease in performance. It isn't going to help you... I'm sorry.

Besides, your system has a 128MB of ram. Which indicates it is likely old, and not using Vista - As Vista requires at least 512MB of ram to even really bootup. Usually 1GB of ram is the old standard as a minimum, and 2GB much preferred as a MIN and usually seen on computers these days.

I think I would invest in a new machine. They are dirt cheap these days. The bottom of the line system (3-400$) desktop would be such a drastic increase to what I am assuming you are using it would be well worth it.
