offseason moves this summer? Do you go after older veteran players that can handle and might need a long break.

Look at college free agents who typically hit the wall around the mid-season

It's not in Japan or Italy so that does help but it still makes the season a split season where the last 30 games or so have nothing much to do with the 1st 50 games
Sorry I posted this question twice, 1st time it didn't look like it went through

I don't think GM's turn off of some players b/c of that yrs Olympics b/c generally players playing in the Olympics (except those of Small countries [Austria, Itlay, Kazuksatan} ) who are on the market are bigger name players who merit deals longer than 1yr deals anyway(Hossa's an exception). so it wouldn' have a major effect.

In looking at 2 similar players who are good but not great but one is playing it might

Take Nik Antrapov (Kazakstan) of Toronto and a canadian version of Antrapov. The canadian version would not be playing for Canada in the Olympics but the real one would. If say hypothetically these 2 were avaliable the same tyype of player, looking for a 1yr deal one could infer the one not going to Vancouver would get the nod
