Hey this topic had exactly the same effect on me... I am now averaging a good, decent three hour or three album block once the litte'uns are in bed... May change next week though when I go back to my 5:30am wake ups when my other job starts up...
Even so i think if i just listened to music all day i would get sick of it, i envy people that can listen to that much music and still enjoy it, i wish i could.
Probably not as much as most people here, though recently I've been keeping myself very busy with it. On a working day, I probably listen somewhere from 4 to 10 hours. On days off, sometimes I don't bother, but lately I've been listening to 4 or 5 hours.
I have a pair of headphones that hurt my ears to wear for longer than about 2 hours, so I listen to music off and on over the course of a day if I'm not at work.
In my experience, if you can't stand listening to more than x amount of music a day you're clearly not listening to the right music. If I had the chance I would always be listening.
Why would you be playing metalcore in the first place when you could be listening to Technical Death Metal? :|
Edit: I listen to around 5 hours of music a day, but I usually go for listening to an album that's hard to get into, and listen to that for the rest of the day. Whereareas I'll listen to a catchier, upbeat single when I'm in an ecstatic mood.
At least 2-3 hours a day, between the car and sitting at my computer at home. I listen at work too, but it's usually something arabient or instrumental that kind of washes into the background.
Very much agree with this! I can remeraber a few days where upon waking up I'd be damn near giddy like a little schoolgirl in anticipation of listening to music for the whole day!! :thurab:
Truthfully,, I will listen to music easily 15 hours a day. Ipod in morning, ipod on bus, ipod at school, ipod on way home, cd after school, itunes when on the computer, and ipod when im about to go to sleep. No wonder I have ****ing insomnia.
I listen to podcasts and talk radio as more regularly now, but when I sit down at the computer or relax music ois always on. I'd say on average 3-5 hours and on certain days as much 12-14
It won't help in regarRAB to figuring out songs/time per week, but the last.fm normalizer is pretty cool for adjusting your artist charts based on actual listening time versus nuraber of tracks played.
Here's a sample of the results, notice some of the big jumps in rank, indicating that those artists have a lot of long tracks. The artists that went down in rank are those with many short tracks.
