how much land would i need to make a garden?

i want to do a vegetable garden. with carrots greenbeans. collard turnips. melon's corn etc etc. i want it to be able to feed us all year. with the help of me freezing and canning it of course. how much land would i need to till and such to were a family of four with one breastfeeding so he dosen't need anything till he's one and thats not till sept..
