How much is a 1977 Honda Goldwing worth if it doesn't run?

I have the opportunity to buy an old Goldwing that isn't running. The seller doesn't have a set price because he doesn't know what its worth. It has around 25k miles and is in decent but not perfect condition.

How much would a bike like this be?
The reason it doesn't run is because of a dead battery and old gas.
The seller is my grandmother's neighbor who just broke his back and won't be able to ride it anymore. He's in his 80's.

If you aren't mechanically inclined, I would stay away from it. Just because someone says "it only needs a good battery and fresh gas" doesn't mean that there isn't anything more wrong with it. Wait until you see what is required just to take the gas tank out! Why has it been sitting for so long if it was running well?? Until I hear it run, it's worth $200.00
After it's running, the value depends upon a few things - how long the bike has been sitting, if it has been stored outside, garaged or under cover. Mileage isn't a problem as most of these bikes are good for well over 100K.
Believe it or not, a GL1000 is still very desirable. Parts are getting harder and harder to find. Someone local may pay as much as $500-750 for it, if it's in reasonable shape (a good engine is worth $250 plus even if it's apart). Take a look on eBay and see what a restored one is going for.
Keep in mind that I can't stress enough that the bike requires maintenance. If you aren't ready to tackle replacing both timing belts, driveshaft spline lubrication and rebuilding FOUR carbs - STEER CLEAR. This bike will probably require a lot of small fixes before it's roadworthy. Just my 2 cents worth.

not much. wouldn't mess with it. If you do'nt know how to rebuild carbs they are about 125 dollars apiece to rebuild and that bike probably has 4 carbs. From experience, if your not a mechanic, do'nt buy something that doesn't run. That bike is from 1977. I wouldn't give him more than what I could junk it out.

Kind of sketchy info, but if it has low mileage and decent paint, maybe a grand (or more if there is something you could point out like Honda accessories from that era or if you actually LIKE the color, etc). if it needs paint or has high miles, closer to 500.
