How much has your environment and upbringing influenced who you are.?

Well my environment growing up was not conducive to my independant and idealistic values. Everyone thought the same and had the same activities. Nobody went to coffee shops or open mic type events. How has this shaped me? It made me more curious to explore life outside of my neighborhood and to do work with populations stigmatized in the community. I was able to get out of that neighborhood as an adult nad have never looked back.
