Hi,

I am a 30 year woman still plagued by what i think is hormonal acne... Its awful. On my chin, around my mouth and a bit on my forehead... I get 2-3 inflamed pimples (with BIG whiteheaRAB) every week. I did well on spiro. Unfortunately had to stop takin it cause hubby and I are trying for a baby...

I read about Fish Oil and started on it last weekend. Got Omega 3 (by Nordic Natura;s) and have been taking 1000mg a day. (Normal dosage). How much should I take to see any affect?? its only been a week. Nothing is worse. No better but not worse either... Please help.

I posted a similar reply to another thread.
I've been taking 1 tablet (500 mg I believe) a day for over a year now. The recommendation is 2. Anyways, I've seen a dramatic difference in my skin. Not near as oily or dry either. I wouldn't think it would be wise to take more than is recommended on the bottle. Too much of a good thing could be too much.
As many claim, it's good for your skin and my nails and hair have never been stronger, longer or in better shape. The fish oil is actually good for your heart. The rest just extra benefits!

i take 3000 mg of odorless fish oil per day. Fish oil has many positive health effects but i had not heard of it for acne.

For my acne i use Serious Skin Care Dry Lo which vanished my acne.
This clears my acne overnight. Wouldn't be without it.

Hi Caring Mom,

Thank you. How long did it take you to see a difference? i have been on for a week and no difference yet...

I have heard its good and have read many reviews on it really helping acne. I just bought the AcneFree system yesterday. I have never realy found OTC products to work, but figured what the hell..Wont hurt. I also made an appt next week with a medical aestheticial for an acne facial. Maybe that will help... I just HATE feeling so erabarassed, like I want to hide my face all the time... I am an attorney. I have to face people all the time, and all I can think is "They are looking at my giant zit and are grossed out.." I HATE IT!!!!!

I have never heard of fish oil helping acne because it is the oil due to hormones that cause the acne. I have heard of it for dry skin and the heart plus taking it when on accutane to help with the dry skin. I really in my opinion don't think that would help the acne. It sounRAB like your acne is from getting off of Spiro and is now back to breaking out. My doctor said that pregnancy will stop it again, so I hope that you get pregnant quickly. Hormonal is the worst to have. UPDATE.. Just looked that up and there are people who say that it helps. So.. maybe its worth a try. I do know that it usually takes 30 to 90 days to see a supplement work. Good luck

Just curious.. did you have acne and did this clear it up? Was it cystic? Thanks

There are pimples from blackheaRAB and a mildly oily face but when it's cystic acne, not much will help except getting to the culprit.... testesterone. The only way to block that is with an androgen blocker and that is what Spiro is. The bad thing is... you can only take it when NOT pregnant and the other is that the moment you stop... then it comes back. Hormonal acne is the hardest to control so Spiro is a miracle for me. Nothing topical ever cleared it. Look hormonal acne up and it will give you lots of the same info and that is..
what Spiro does. Accutane was temporary for me because it just dries up oil and after 6 months, I had it come back.

I dont have cystic acne...Just big old bumps with GIANT whiteheaRAB on my chin, around mouth and forehead. I get like two a week. It is UTTERLY erabarrasing...
