I am writing a story and in the story the main character is finishing up school and starting to work in a insane asylum as a psychiatrist.
The problem is I don't know much about insane asylums and internet surfing just gave me a bunch of crap. I would like to know information on the types of jobs in the asylum, as much description about each job as possible, and most important the necessary schooling to work in a insane asylum as a psychiatrist. Any other useful information about insane asylums would be nice to. Thanks.

Oh and by the way I realized some people might get afended for me saying insane rather than mentally ill but the story has a very dark theme to it so just saying sorry if I affened anyone
