Basically, my car has zero acceleration, my tank on my 99 Kia holds 12 gallons, Im half way through it right now and only have 88 miles to its credit.

So im burning tons of gas just to try and get to normal speeds, you wont believe how much i have to push just to get to 50 mph, I think I need a new gas cap, if that's the problem, how much does this usually go for?
I have NO idea what is wrong with the car people, I just drive the damn thing, take it to get oil changes when needed and then bring it to the shop when it breaks down.

I went to have it inspected in October and the guy told me to call him if my check engine light came back on because he said it appeared that I might have a leak and that I wasnt getting full use of my gas, at the time I hadn't noticed a thing, but in the mean time it has gotten worse, so I called today and the dude is the one who said it sounded like a gas cap issue, maybe he mis understood me and that is why we have this mix up.

If its NOT the gas cap, maybe one of you could actually let me know what it sounds like instead of telling me Im stupid. Thanks

not your gas cap, you probably need a tune up, or check to see why your burning to much gas

You do not need a new gas cap......Why would you think that? It has nothing to do with the performance of the engine. Good luck!

It is not your gas cap, take it to a real mechanic since you have no idea what you are talking about.

sorry gas cap wouldnt do it more like a tune up or exhaust system plugged would so i think you might want to have the car service...but a gas cap you can buy just about any where maybe 15 to 20 bucks
