How much do you tip a buffet waiter?

I know a regular waiter should get 20-25%, but a buffet waiter doesn't really do anything except stop by occasionally to see if everything's okay, and bring you water at the beginning of your trip. Do they get paid the same as "regular" waiters; i.e., they need a tip just as big? How much is a good tip for a buffet waiter?
20-25% where I live. I hear in the north it's still 10-15% or even 15-20%, but in Texas anything less than 20% is offensive.
 
i dont usually tip them but with
the spare change i have in my pockets.
they dont really help me at all
so i give them just spare change.
 
I generally only tip about 5% of my bill to buffet waiters, because most of the time, I don't get any service from them aside from picking up my plate.
