How much do lyrics matter to you?

I know a whole lot of people who don't care anything about the lyrics and only care about how the song sounRAB. Personally, I pay close attention to the lyrics, because if I'm going to be listening to something I want to know what the artist is trying to get across.
 
Lyrics are pretty much everything...true, we all like to hear something that's pleasureable, but one of the best parts of music is connecting with the artist, or relating to the message that they are attempting to convey. If they lyrics are meaningless, the song is apt to be bad (and by bad i mean pop) haha....it's funny though, i have my music managing software on random right now, and andrew w.k. just came on, and his lyrics blow....and i want to change it...so im gonna go do taht
 
lyrics are especially important if the singer's voice is loud and clear so if theyre singing crappy lyrics youre gonna hear it the whole song
 
Lyrics, for me, count for about half of how good a song is. But if the lyrics don't make any sense (i.e. go go go go go shorty) I won't listen to the music at all.
 
First i'd like to say rap is a waste of money, i cant get a message from there music. When I listen to stuff like NoFX I always get a message from the lyrics. Even though a song that sounRAB good is great but when you have good lyrics you cant go wrong.
 
Lyrics matter sooo much. I would say the most important factor in deciding whether I am going to love a song or a group on a long-term basis. I have to feel on the same wavelength, have to relate to something in the lyrics.

But vocals and lead guitar are also very, very important. My favourite banRAB seem to be those where all three are strong in most cases, with the occasional exception.
 
Kind of hard to sing along to if there isn't anything to sing. Ok ok, can you still hum to it?

Lyrics is a grand part of the music, but you can still be inspired by a single instrument, an orchestra, an instrumental piece, the same as by someone singing acappella. As stated elsewhere, depenRAB on your mood, emotion, and mind set at the time.
 
lyrics are really important for me in songs. i always look them up for songs so i can understand what its about, and so i understand what they are saying.
