How much can my 1996 Ford Escort Ghia (hatchback) safely tow?

Please help as I cannot find an answer anywhere.
P.S : When I load the boot I can load approx 100kg but then the rear suspension seems very low. It is not bottoming out but I don't think it will take much more.

Would this mean that it will only be able to tow 100kg also?

Try typing in Haynes Manual for Ford Escort Ghia you might find something there if not ring up your local garage they might be able to help you.
