Hello!
A healthy balanced diet consists of;
50% carbs
30% fat
20% protein
If you have fitness or weight goals, it maye have to be adjusted. For example- If you want to lose weight (make sure your are getting plenty of exercise!) slightly hire your protein and lower your fat and carb intake, so it would be about
45% carbs (NEVER go below 40%. I try to never go below 45%)
25% fat
30% protein (make sure to eat it throughout the day, not all at once. Your body cannot process more then about 30g of protein at a time).
However if you just want to make sure your healthy, stick with the first list of precentages.
Make sure ALL your foods are coming from healthy sources. Avoid saturated fats-get your fat from nuts, etc.. Remember, it is much easier to reach 30% fat that it is to reach the other percentages as there are 9 calories per gram in fat, but only 4 calories per gram in protein and carbs.
Get your carbs from whole wheat, and eat other comples carbs. Avoid simple sugars.
Best of luck!
Laura
