How many ride without the crash bar?

Been there, done that. Could lift up my kneecap and see the joint underneath, and my entire left leg was nothing but one big chunk of road rash.

That was the spill I took in '83 that I mention in other posts from time to time. That's the one that kept me spooked from riding for 15 years.

FWIW, I also ADD the rear bag guards to my touring bikes. Had them on my 2000 RK, PUT them on both my '07 Street Glide and now my '10 Road Glide. I won't ride a bike without them.

Without going into a lot of detail (I don't feel like typing ) I agree and can directly relate to everything you wrote. I wouldn't even consider taking it off.

Since this is a Engine guard discussion I have a question. I ride a 2010 stock Fatboy, I am 6' 4" tall and was wondering if I put engine guards on with foot pegs will my knees be bent when I throw them up? Keeping my feet on the foot boards gets very uncomfortable and would like to stretch them out. Will any engine guard do the trick or will I have to get a certian kind? Thanks in advance for the info if I get any.

That $130 dollar crash bar is a must for all touring bikes. One day you will see.....

I agree I wouldnt put one on my fat boy.....But the guys with hard bags......and bat wings.....god bless ya if she goes over with out one. This dumb ass knows.
