How many Republicans and Democrats on here would be willing to come together

and diplomatically discuss things? During the duration of my time on Yahoo! Answers I've seen alot of hate thrown back and forth between Democrats and Republicans. I think it's important that we stop this and try and begin to understand eachother rather then trashing what the other side believes in. Both are very caring and loving parties at their core... we believe in very different things, but we also have alot of things in common... and that's how you build a foundation... a common ground. I have been toying with the idea of starting a "Democrats & Republicans Unite" group at my University next semester with the goal of forming a more perfect political party where we can come together on issues rather then get angry about them... where we have a forum to discuss our political differences diplomatically while coming up with the best possible solution and or alternative while at the same time never abandoning what we individually believe in. I know it's going to be tough, but how would you feel personally about a group like this?
It's dissappointing that there is even a few of you that aren't mature enough to respond to a diplomatic question diplomatically... you instead used it as an oppurtunity to take potshots against the other side. Despite what you think... you are what's wrong with this country and hopefully one day you realize it.

What about people who think both major parties are a big, steaming pile of horse crap? I honestly don't know why people have these obnoxious fights over worthless parties that don't give a damn about people...unless those people are part of the special interests that wave huge checks in front of a politician's face.

You have a noble idea and I salute you for it. You seem to be in a good position to start our healing process by your university idea. Hopefully it will succeed and spread to other universities throughout the country, then spread like wild fire through our nation. That would be wonderful if we all got along like good brothers and sisters or as family. All this sounds like utopia, but it can be possible if we all try. Good Luck!

as long as the politicians with there special interest concerns are not involved, I would be inclined to actually discuss real issues and how we, as a nation, can actually do fiscally responsible policies that also help improve the environment and the majority of the populace.

Republicans and Democrats are terrorists.

Terrorists are political actors whose dogmatic beliefs render them completely unable to reach political compromise.

That describes our entrenched wacko ideologues completely.

Democrats don't know how to work together with others.
Right now they are trying to force through a health care bill w/o a single Republican supporting it.

This is the way I see it.
I am a Reagan Conservative. For me to compromise with a liberal, means that I have to compromise with my core values and beliefs. That means I will no longer be a Conservative. That means I will lesson my view of what I think is right with my core values and beliefs and that I must step down from what I believe, to accommodate an opinion I think is wrong.A better thing would be for the liberal minded to step up to my values and beliefs and structure, instead of me compromising. Its hard to walk the walk, for most liberals though.

Actually, I am always willing to discuss. I have msging. I don't mince words, I often call people stup**, but I am perfect willing to prove any statement I have ever made. When I use these terms, they are not about insulting for insults sake, but describing a real situation - the utter selfishness and depravity of a propagandist.

But consider this from a pub: "For me to compromise with a liberal, means that I have to compromise with my core values and beliefs" This statement is logically false. It assumes you said we should compromise. You did not. You said we should listen. For example, if I proved that Reagan supported terrorists in Nicaragua, then perhaps that person will no longer be a Reagan Conservative. In other words, all we are asking for is truth, debate, logic and reason.

Consider this from another famous propagandist pub "Democrats don't know how to work together with others. Right now they are trying to force through a health care bill w/o a single Republican supporting it." Everyone knows that the liberal position is really medicare for all or a single payer system. Obama's plan is one long compromise over another, until finally Bacus just threw out the public option. The facts prove the propagandist's statement false, but propagandist will ignore reason, logic and your goal of discussing things openly.

I'm not going to meet anybody in a controlled environment but, I'm willing to be open to input from all sides just like I know everybody else.
