How many people make through marine boot camp and how many do not?

There are various reasons as to why people don't make it through Marine Corps boot camp.. While my boyfriend was there one person got sent home cause they were a suicide risk, another guy got injured to the point they had to get sent home & other people just aren't able to complete everything that needs to be done to graduate.

Your friends dad was very right in saying it's very tough.. So so true. But as long as you're mentally stable, physically fit & have the will power to make it through then you should be alright. It is a very hard thing to go through, but it's not so bad that many people can't make it. I'd say at least 98% of recruits at Parris Island get to graduate. But that's just what I'd think. There's no evidence that it's true.

If you plan to join, good for you. :) Good luck with everything.

The vast majority make it - around 97% last I checked. The few that don't have medical or mental problems...or just were too weak in the spine. Those who don't make it weren't able to withstand the physical or mental stress, and broke down in some way. Some were not able to pass certain tests. Some were just not cut out for the job, and got 'fired.'

Back when Marine Corps boot camp wasn't a vacation. We had about 40% of the original platoon didn't make it to graduation with us. We had 2 just quit and walked off Parris Island during the first week. Of course they caught them at the gate and arrested them for desertion. Another 2 refused to train at the end of 1st phase and they admin processed them out. They rest were either injured or fat bodies that couldn't run and were dropped back.

the first week we lost a few. these were guys you wondered how they made it that far. after that we had a couple that struggled but they got it together.

in the recent past i understand that there was a high failure rate among those without high school diplomas. Marines no longer take recruits without high school diplomas, problem solved.
