How many people make it through Navy Boot Camp?

For those of you who have been to Navy Boot Camp, how many people end up quitting? At what point do they decide it's too much? and why do they think it's so bad? I ship out July 13th and I'm pretty sure I will have to be on the verge of dying and have the mortician come to pick up my corps before I leave that place without graduating! lol any advice would be great!

Don't make more of it than it is. The vast majority of people make it. I sure as hell did, and I discovered that I was MUCH tougher than I thought.

I graduated in 1976 after 10 weeks. I saw some quit, and mostly it was for dumb stuff. Best advice I can give you is do what your told, keep quiet unless asked, pay attention, and remember it only last for a couple of months...not life.

In my division, we only lost people during the first couple of weeks because they lied about something or other and were kicked out.
And then getting toward the end, a couple people had to go back in training because they were really sick and missed a sizable portion of training.

It's only about 2 months and that's what you have to keep in mind. It gets easier the longer you're there and before you know it, it's graduation day! Appreciate the good times there and have fun!

To tell you the truth... who cares?? I went to MCRD PI knowing that I will become a Marine. I never cared about the drop out rate. Keep your mind set on becoming a part of the USN and don't let anything stop you from obtaining your goal. Good luck and remember, live day to day, chow to chow, and it'll be over soon.
