It's totally dependant on the amount. If you're caught with a joint on you, you'll have it removed and probably be giving a fine or a formal warning. Having large amounts will most lilkely have you arrested with possesion with intent to supply. In which case, you will go to jail.

Very few go to jail for possesion of cannabis. Because very few people have large amounts of it.
