How many MPH can you go on a Bicycle if it has 14 gears on it?

It's not the number of gears, it's the size ratio between the largest front gear (called a chain ring) and the smallest back gear (called a cog). The bigger chain rings combined with the smallest cog generate the most speed.

That's in theory. When you get going really fast other limitations become very significant. How much power can the rider generate? How aerodynamic is your riding position? How aerodynamic is your bike and its wheels?

Bottom line: It's more about the rider than the bike. If you traded bikes with Mark Cavendish, he'd still leave you in his dust.
