How many more fish in my tank???plants? tank mates?
hi. i have a 30 gallon tank. Current fish are:
8 platies (1:3 ratio genderwise)
3 female balloon mollies
1 female guppy

I have the following things in the tank as well:
Blue gravel (probably irrevelevant)
Aquarium salt (tablespoon to every 10 gallons i think)
Hornwort (a jungle lol...)


I am wondering what other fish i can add to my tank? What other plants as well? Any other fish species? or algea eaters?

I was thinking of buying a male balloon molly (trying to keep a 1:3 ratio)
and 2 more female guppies along with a male fancy guppy. But, will the balloon molly male fight with my male fancy guppy?
I also have a 10 gallon currently set up as a nursery tank, so the FRY are not a problem. (im a new breeder) The juveniles will live among the 10 gallon and 30 gallon as well, until i sell them.lol....


Any ideas?


I dont believe in the 1 gallon rule of thumb either (its B.S. and truly for just new aquarist)

I wouldn't recommend buying any more fish. You're going to have enough of a problem dealing with the fry if your platies start breeding. If you let the mollies breed too your tank will be even more overcrowded.

If you don't have a separate tank for the fry, they'll probably get eaten. As cruel as it may sound, that's probably less cruel than letting them grow to adulthood and die a slow death in an overcrowded.tank.
 
well where are you going to put the fry when they hatch and grow? in the 30... then your tank will become wayy tooo crowded and i suggest not putting anything in it yet until you are sure you are not going to put your babies in that tank (in another tank or give it away).. if that is the case, put a group of like 8 neon tetras, they would look nice.. u cant put anything big like angels or cichlids,,, maybe a bottom feeder or 2... gourami mayb?dont get the algae eaters that grow to like a foot long, those r a pain..
 
you have mostly small fish this is good your guppy's platies and mollies will have baby's so I wouldn't ad anymore because you want to leave some room for baby fish fry♥
