How many miles can you put on a Mazda 3?

Hi, as a newly licensed driver my dad is helping me with a purchase of a used car. My budget is under $10,000 and something with less then 80,000 miles. We have basically been looking at Civics and the Mazda 3 but he is a little hesitant to help me with the Mazda because he doesn't know if I could get the same kind of mileage out of it as I could driving a Civic. So anybody driving a Mazda 3 or anyone that knows something about them please tell me how many miles i could put on one before it would start giving me major problems. Thanks
