15 one hour lessons and passed first time BUT I had a lot of practice with some friends who were drivers who spent time in the car with me.

I was 20, booked test after first lesson, had 9 more including the one before the test and passed first time.
The DSA does NOT recommend what you say - they give that as the average NOT a recommendation.

There is no way for anyone on here to judge whether you will be ready when you are asking about. You may need only half that amount or less or go on for a couple of years and never pass and anywhere in between.

I know you are looking for some reassurance but if anyone gives you a "yes you will be OK", then come on, they do not know you, do not know your abilities and simply have no idea.

your driving test? I have 26 driving lessons booked, (two hour lessons a week, until december), I know driving skills and learning varies with different people. I don't have much driving experience and no car to practise on. After 26 lessons what stage of driving would I be on?

I am hoping to be ready for my driving test by the end of feb 2010 or march 2010 (still going to take 2 hour lessons a week). All in all I am planning to have about 40 lessons in total (from sep 09 - feb 2010). Would I be ready for the driving test?

I know the dsa recommends approx 44 hours of professional lessons combined with approx 22 hours of private practise. Is this realistic.

please share your experience. (I am 23!)

Are you a fast learner? You wont really be able to tell until about halfway through the course - i was having flying lessons but had to stop mid-way because of finances - so now i might have to start again from scratch.. good idea is get one of the DVLA d.v.d.`s and practice on your computer - its mainly observation and smooth gear changes they look for - dont go over the speed limit... keep looking in your mirrors... OBSERVATION!
