I have 2 angel fish and 2 cherry barbs in now and would like to add 2 more fish plus an algae eater at some point

take the angel fish back i have some they get big and need at least a 30 gallon for just them 2 alone. after that you should replace them with 2 female sword tails and 1 male swordtail. unless you dont want to breed them then get all males. and some platy's. thats about all you can put in a 10 gallon aquarium, for agae eater dont get the big black 1's the plecosomise one that i cant spell because they will get big. get a little cleaner fish there pink and suck on the tank all day long pretty much. and they wont get big so get one of those.

we have a 10 gallon aquarium too And i don't really think there is a limit but you just don't want your fish to be cramped together. We have 7 fish and an algae water so I think you could add the fish and the algae eater.

I believe the rule of thumb is 1 gallon of water per 1 inch of a fish. I could be wrong though.
But in my 10 gallon I had 4 betta fish and 4 cory catfish

Your tank is already overstocked. Angelfish get huge and need a minimum of 30 gallons for a breeding pair. The 2 cherry barbs are fine but dont get an alage eater. They can get over a foot long and require a much much larger tank. If i were you i would just get some more cherry barbs. Maybe about 3 more and call it good. With a 10 gallon tank you are very limited to what kind of fish you can get.
