How many babies does a Betta fish have at a time?

Well I have this male Betta fish and I want to get a female too. I want to put them in the same tank but I'm worried that if I put them together they will have a ton of babies and my fish tank is not too big! So I want to now how many fish they have, and how often, because if it's only one or two that's okay.
