How loud can I play my car speakers without risking blowing them out?

Simple car, simple speaker system.

I don't understand how speakers work and why the blow, so to protect my investment I want to know how far I can reasonably push them.

I say crank it up until it sounds bad. Since you said simple car and speaker system, I'm guessing you're talking about stock car speakers. No subwoofers or amps here. Anyways, if all your stuff is stock, you can turn it up to the max without blowing it. The only problem with this is that the speakers will distort. This doesn't nesessarily mean damage to the speakers, but the bass kind of cracks and the treble isn't very clear. You won't blow anything though.

loud but not all the way, but if u do have them up loud, you'll get pulled over by the cops buddy

Depends on their wattage rating say I have a 400 watt radio, the speakers would have to be rated 400 watts plus to not crack and blow the magnet.

Go by the gut instinct:

when youR ears start bleeding then you will know.

STOP PLAYIN THE RADIO SO LOUD DUMMY! AN AMBULANCE IS COMING!!!!!!!

If the volume on the car goes to 30, turn it up to about 25 at the max. If the sound starts to distort, then you know you are doing damage to the speaker.
