i flash'd a phone for a customer almost a month ago and they still have not pick there phone up everytime i call them to see if they forgot about it they say i'm glad you called i'll be to get it today all day goes by they don't call or show-up so my questiom is how long should i what before i sell the phone to another customer my next step is to make a contract for people to sign that say u have x amount of time to pick up and pay or phone will go on market
 
Honestly I only hold a phone for 14 days, its posted as well that we will not keep track of you're phone after 14 days unless asked to do so other wise.
You dont need to sit on a phone that a customer might owe you money for or have a clutter of phone's that people refuse to pick up.
 
We have a sign in our shop that basically says not responsible for phones left for more than 15 days. It is amazing the nurabers of business customers mainly who completely blow off or forget to pick up their phones and we re-sell them. I obtained my first Sprint Blackberry, Mogul, Touch, i880, i870, ic902 those ways.
 
you guys better look into your local/state laws before someone comes after you for that... especially if you are charging them in advance..
 
Why dont you just call the owner of the phone again and make it clear that if he/she doesnt come and pick it up by a certain date and time, you plan on selling the phone. That way if they really want to keep their phone theyll go for it if not then you know they arent serious about getting it back. I dont know how anyone could forget about picking up their phone for a month. I know I couldnt go a day without mine.

Edit: For legal purposes you might consider recording the conversation and save it that way if they ever want to come back and start something, BOOM! Play the recording and you should have nothing to worry about.
