How long will I have XM Radio in my car?

I bought a Chevy Silverado from a guy a few months ago.
It came with everything he had put it in it, headers, exhaust, sound system, his tools, and on the CD deck, XM Satellite radio

I've been listening to it a lot, and it tells me how to buy a subscription and stuff, but it's already set up, I can listen to anything, and have been since I bought the truck.

So my question is, when will this run out, and will it just stop working once it's run out?
It's obviously not paid month to month, or I wouldn't still have it and be listening to it, so do you buy a one year subscription at a time? or

How does it work?

If your susbscription runs out the whole radio wont stop working itself it will still pick up the local stations, just not XM. I had a rental for about a month and the subscription went out on me about 4 days before I turned it in.
 
thats funny my parents just bought a 2007 tahoe and we have never paid a penny for the xm don't know when it will run out we've had it for about a year
