How long to wait in a relationship before having sex?

So my girlfriend and I just broke up yesterday, and at the bar with my buddy I was trying to figure out why it didnt work. Then I thought about my 2 previous ex-girlfriends and I realized a common theme with all of them. They were all party hook-ups. In all three relationships, we had sex the very first night we meet. And proceeded to date from there.

Ok so obviously having sex with a person THEN trying to date them immediately after is a bad idea, got that. But what I realized is that:
1) I want a relationship that will last
2) I want to have sex in that relationship as fast as possible.

Now after 3 trys of that, I have proven (at least to myself) that having sex with a girl then trying to form a relationship with her will not work.

So trying to rush the sex in the relationship is the problem.

Here in lies the question. How long should I date a girl or be in a relationship with a girl before we have sex?

It is difficult to answer this question. It is going to be different lenghts of time depending on the woman, the age, the chemistry..etc...

Just go with the flow, don't put a time limit on it.
 
take sex out of the relationship
it helps you keep focus on the relationship...
when you have dated a LONG time, (over a year, yes i did say a year)...
THEN you can think about sex...
