how long to do a test??

i had sex while ovulating. 6 dpo i got cramps in my abdomen then 12dpo i got a brown discharge which only lasted about an hour. my period is due in 2 days,when should i test? does this sound hopefull ?
 
wait til you are actually late. while the store bought test are great these days.sometimes your body wont produce enough of the hormone to get a positive.try to relax and see what happens.
 
the longer you leave it after you have a missed period the higher the result will be i'd test one or two days late
