How long to boil your clothes?

Wanting my shirts to fit a size or two smaller, I started searching methods of shrinking them. One that came up a few times was to boil them in a large pot before drying them at a high temperature.

I was planning on giving this a test on some old shirts I don't wear too much anyway, in case something goes wrong and becomes ruined.
Anyway, I was curious as to how long someone would boil their shirts, for anyone who has tried this.
