Hello,
I have just developed reflux symptoms over the last week (although I suspect my "sinus" problems I've had for years was silent reflux). I also suspect my frequent use of ibuprofen set it off. My doc put me on Prilosec 20 mg, and at times I do feel better.
My question is, those of you who have been on PPI's, how long did it take to feel better?
Thanks! odc

My doctor said you can get breakthrough symtoms for up to 2 weeks. He said to call him after that if symptoms are still bothersome and he will send me to Gastro doc.

btw, I took prilosec today, after 4 days of pain, heartburn ect., and I went to a prayer meeting where they all prayed for me, and my symptoms, are at rest. Thank you GOD, thank you prilosec, and thank you Dr.!!

You may start to notice a decrease in your reflux symptoms in 7-10 days but it usually takes 8-12 weeks for any irritated areas in your esophagus to heal and for your sinus symptoms to improve. Unfortunately, it's a long, slow process.

just googled it . Information says it may take up to four days to get the full effect. I was on it (30nl) and I felt fine after three days, but by the end of the month it stopped working and I had to get my meRAB changed AGAIN!

I agree with the previous poster. You may not of been healed totally, so that may be why you think it stops working. Mine did not heal until over 4 month on Nexuim. You have good days and bad days but the good days don't mean that we are cured. Give it TIME, and I mean that with capital letters. Good luck.
